Good luck in your hunt. Best Casino Companies to Work For? Feb 6, Threads: March 25th, at 2: So I am spreading my resume around and given my interest in gambling, the allure of casinos to me, and the overall atmosphere it dawned on me that I should apply at some casinos.
I know there are a lot of people on these forums that either worked for casinos or work closely with casinos. I am looking for IT or surveillance.
Aug 31, Threads: March 25th, at 3: Jul 6, Threads: What Casino do you work for?? What about this Sheriff Card thingy?? Do I really need this if I want a job in any casino????
I will be moving to Vegas in Early July, I will definitely be looking for work. Ive been on line with the usual sites but Im not convinced.
I still think theres nothing like the good old fashion way to get a job. Not what u know but who u know??? And of course hit the foot to the pavement with Resumes in hand and armed with a great smile and attitude!!!!
Is it pretty hard or competitive to land a job in casinos as a dealer? I was married to a cop for 18 years. Even still - for ANY Of those security jobs - it helps if you have law enforcement experience whether in a police department or military, gun or no gun.
And for being a police officer these days, you need a college degree, primarily in law enforcement or any related subject. THey will sometimes bypass the degree if you have actual experience on a police force as a cop.
Mandy in Las Vegas, Nevada said: Bradly in Calverton, New York said: You fit the bill being a corrections officer.
Do your research first. That will tell you much more about everything. The starting pay is great, and better if you have experience.
But again, do your research. Security guard positions here are pretty decent. One note about working in a casino - you will start working the graveyard shift.
You can eventually work your way up to a better shift the longer you are there. Just a heads up! I sasw on the local news yesterday that NLV is hiring.
Betty Grable in Las Vegas, Nevada. I got a temp job when I first came here and then applied for a position where I worked. Beside the blatant bigotry and nepotism where I work the pay is good and the benefits are good but the people are mean spirited and cliquish.
Phillip in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is hard, but you will find something. Since I have been here September of o7 it took me till february 08 to find my first job job, had a total of 4 interviews and put my resume out to hundreds of places.
You will find something, I knew no one either. That is NOT true that you have to live here 3 years to get a job. More like 6 months to a year.
And I am in a profession legal that you would think had a lot of job opportunities but that was not the case. I finally did get a job and hopefully it will last until I can retire in 7 years.
We now have the highest unemployment rate in the country. Many building projects have completely stopped so there are thousands of unemployed construction workers; the casinos lay off regularly and there are thousands of casino workers unemployed.
If you can make do working at Walmart and even those jobs are hard to come by or working part time, hang in there. If not - I suggest you go back east again because the cities east of the MIssissippi will recover a lot quicker than Vegas.
George in Hawthorn, Australia. Just a question if anyone knows if solar water pumps are introduced in vegas because its big here and its what i specilise in thanks.
I am trying to move as soon as I can get some money in my hands. Until the State of Nevada realizes that you cannot have a healthy economy by relying JUST on gaming, it will never recover from this recession.
The State needs to diversify - get other industries and companies in here but the politicians are too afraid to get out of bed with the casino corporations.
And, now investors are buying up all these foreclosed properties. The investors ruined it to begin with and now they think they will be able to rent out these homes And for those who say that have a job already and that is why they are coming here: The Job will not last.
Or if you have longevity and experience in your chosen field, ie legal assistant , paralegal, forget it. I know attorneys who are working at moving companies, selling time share crap, etc.
I myself am moving out of Las Vegas next month and moving back home to Illinois. There over 15, casino workers that have been layed off since So of those 12, City Center jobs, most likely they will all be filled with unemployed casino workers and NOT anyone else.
Same with Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood. Always wtih the casinos - they hire those who already worked at or are working at a casino.
Marie Dunn in Houston, Texas said: New2Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada said: Geez, I have never heard so much negativity. There are two huge casinos opening this year and more to come.
Aliente also had another job fair this year. We do not even live in Las Vegas and applied for a job there and was offered the position.
It is a great time to buy a home there, the prices are low and if you wait longer they will probably be lower.
Troy, get motivated and take a job doing something, earn some money and go to school to learn something higher paying!!!! Quit playing on the computer all day and crying to everybody who will listen.
God BLess YOur heart. I might not find a job as soon as I might like to,but to get away from these uneducated and back stabbing people will be enough for me.
Places like Dallas, TX cater to the masses with tons of employment offers compared to this pee hole rotten town! The last thing on most major large corporations minds are who you know.
They want to know your skill set, what experience you can bring to the company and so forth. This is why I love living is the big city.
I hope this place gets even worst I want it to bottom out! That does not include those already collecting unemployment.
Life sucks in Lost Wages, NV. I am so far behind in paying my bills, that as soon as I get back home, I have to file for bankruptcy.
